I was born in sunny Manila where I grew up watching my parents run a construction business and saw firsthand the importance of caring for both employees and the community. My Filipino roots have nurtured a profound awareness of the difficulties people face and this worldview has been my north star in my education and career. I always strive to make a positive impact on others.
I earned a degree in civil engineering and graduated in 2015. Right out of school, I worked for my parents and taught yoga part time. It was then that I discovered a strong passion - supporting and helping others through their fitness journey. In 2018, I moved to Seattle and continued on a career path in civil engineering, designing for land development. My projects ranged from drive thru and parking lot upgrades to designing civil infrastructure for industrial warehouses and gas stations across the US. Of the wide variety of work, I enjoyed designing for accessibility the most because the finished projects solved for inclusivity.
Civil engineering gave me the avenue to create impact at a large scale, however, I was missing a personal connection with the audience I was designing for. Transitioning to UX design felt like a natural progression. It allows me to combine my technical background with a human-centered approach, creating products that truly resonate with users.
Outside my career, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog Penny. I live in Portland Oregon, where we enjoy beautiful summers backpacking in the mountains and cozy winters in our adorable apartment near Forest Park. I constantly miss the Philippines - the crazy chaotic energy will always feel like home, but I am grateful and love calling the PNW my new home.
