Charm was born in sunny Manila where she grew up watching her parents run a construction business and saw firsthand the importance of caring for both employees and the community. Her Filipino roots have nurtured a profound awareness of the difficulties people face and this worldview has been her north star in her education and career. She always strives to make a positive impact on others.
Charm earned a degree in civil engineering and graduated in 2015. Right out of school, she worked for her parents and taught yoga part time. It was then that she discovered a strong passion - supporting and helping others through their fitness journey. In 2018, she moved to Seattle and continued on a career path in civil engineering, designing for land development. Her projects ranged from drive thru and parking lot upgrades to designing civil infrastructure for industrial warehouses and gas stations across the US. Of the wide variety of work, she enjoyed designing for accessibility the most because the finished projects solved for inclusivity.
Civil engineering gave her the avenue to create impact at a large scale, however, she was missing a personal connection with the audience she was designing for. Transitioning to UX design felt like a natural progression. It allowed her to combine her technical background with a human-centered approach, creating products that truly resonate with users.
Outside her career, she enjoy spending time with her husband and their dog Penny. She lives in Portland Oregon, where they enjoy beautiful summers backpacking in the mountains and cozy winters in our adorable apartment near Forest Park. Charm constantly misses the Philippines - to her, the crazy chaotic energy will always feel like home, but she's grateful and love calling the PNW her new home.
